Nvidia shows Android Ice Cream Sandwich on Transformer Prime

Nvidia has a video posted online in which briefly the latest version of Android will be shown at the upcoming Transformer Prime tablet from Asus. The Prime is coming out with version 3.0, but an update to 4.0 should be ready soon.

The video shows the first images of an official Android Ice Cream Sandwich port on a tablet running. It is remarkable that the interface in the latest version of Android a lot smoother seems to work, although previous versions though hardware acceleration is used. Especially the openingsanimatie of the applicatieoverzicht runs remarkably smooth, while that in previous versions of Android are sometimes a little choppy.

Further, in the video, the new features of the homescreen is displayed, such as the automatic creation of folders. It is also high-def-video is played, to demonstrate that the Tegra 3 chip is a lot better at decoding video than its predecessor. The Transformer Prime from Asus was recently announced and is the first Android tablet which has a Tegra 3 chip under the hood. The device will be out in early december on the market in Asia and early 2012 in the Netherlands. Asus has already let know to work hard on a software update to the latest version of Android. With the introduction in the Netherlands is that update is probably already available.
