Novel adaptation: Tschick celebrates Premiere in Berlin
Fatih Akin has filmed the cult novel of the late writer Wolfgang herrndorf. Three days before the movie’s release the novel adaptation in Berlin, celebrates its Premiere. And is expected with voltage.
Film wanted to film Director Fatih Akin (“Short and painless”, “Against the wall”, “The Cut”) the novel is actually a lot of. At the book fair 2011 he was about to become for the first time on the book. After reading “Tschick” was Akin: “I (…) devoured, and while reading thought I would make a film,” says the Director.

But Akin had to wait in line. There are other names in the conversation for the filming of this hugely successful novel by Wolfgang herrndorf. And another prominent Director was first awarded the contract. David Wnendt (“The warrior”, “wetlands”, “He’s back”) had completed preparations for the project, but then grew again. In the short term, another Director was looking for. Fatih Akin jumped in.

What has irritated Akin to the youth novel about two boys in your class are outsiders, become friends and with an old Lada during the summer vacation through Eastern Germany,? It was not even in the first line of the outsider-theme for Fatih Akin in the foreground: “I was most interested in, that someone is not in love with a girl from his class, and observed him,” says the Director: “He needs to experience all of these adventures, and when he comes back, she sees him at last. This is him, but in the meantime doesn’t matter. I know from my own life very well.”

Herrndorfs novel “Tschick” was released in 2010 and quickly became a Bestseller. He has been in Germany alone sold two million copies and been translated into 24 languages. A stage Version of the substance developed into a Bestseller. In the 2014/15 season saves was staged across no other piece of often, and even the classics of Mozart or Shakespeare.

With contributed to the immense success of the novel, which is often referred to as a book for young people, have a lot of enthusiastic reviews in the German Feuilleton. Since its appearance Tschick has caused a large Echo, in particular, the dialogues, the safe handling of youth in length and the unpretentious, laconic language were always to be applauded. It literary comparisons with the classics were drawn, such as “Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn” or “catcher in The rye”. So it was only a matter of time before the novel of 2013, the late Wolfgang herrndorf would also be for the cinema to be discovered.
Producer Mehlitz: “The Film has a great power.”
After the surprising departure of Director Wnendt Fatih Akin was obliged as a Director for seven weeks prior to the scheduled rotation start. Producer Marco Mehlitz to see this particular production circumstances in hindsight as an advantage: “The Film has a great power. Maybe the would have looked differently if he had had a long preparation time, which would have all questioned,” says Mehlitz.

Fatih Akin has committed to “Tschick” to be a young, relatively unknown Ensemble. Tristan Göbel plays Maik, from whose perspective the novel’s plot is told of the Russian Boy Tschick is embodied by Anand Batbileg.
Fatih Akin, the performer and his eighth feature film, together with its main and the Team on Monday evening (12.9.) in the Berlin cinema “International” presents, files his latest work: “It is a Eastern, a classic road movie.”
