Intel would be the Romley server platform for the Sandy Bridge-based Xeon E5’s reportedly postpone it to march next year because there are problems in the area of sas storage when combining Sandy Bridge EP chips with the C600 chipset.

Romley is the first server platform of Intel processors, the Sandy Bridge architecture are based. The Xeon E5 processors on the platform Socket R, or LGA 2011, and the Socket B2, i.e. LGA-1356 support. The Xeon E5-2600 and E5-1600 series would be in the first week of march 2012 to come true. The platform then has the code name Carlow, which includes Ivy Bridge E2-processors in combination with the C216 chipset would exist.

Manufacturers fear that they are now the revenue miss of companies in the first quarter of 2012, the old systems would be replaced by the new. Intel itself would think that the decision had little impact on the servermarkt given the ailing economy and the fact that many companies, the it budget for 2011 is largely already spent.
