Finnish website shows data of 70,000 users to drain

A Finnish website has the e-mail addresses and passwords of at least 70.000 Finns drain. Among the affected users are said to have been doctors. It’s yet another datalek of this month in the Scandinavian country.

The Finnish website Helistin had certainly 70.000 usernames, email addresses and passwords unprotected. The data were stored in an unencrypted text file, know Mikko Hyppönen from security company F-Secure. It is not clear how long the data is unprotected have been online and who has them can see. MikroPC reports that the data probably via filesharingdiensten be shared.

Helistin is a website for families with children. Owner Darwin Media Oy has in addition to the familysite also other Finnish websites under his wing. This includes a web portal with 15,000 users, which allegedly also doctors are registered. According to Finnish media use the websites with the same usernames as Helistin. It is not known whether the data of Helistin at the other sites are abused.

Finland struggled this month with various data breaches. The beginning of november and licked in different services also the data of thousands of Finns. When one of them ended up, therefore, among other things, the e-mail addresses and passwords of universities and various government agencies on the street, including that of the customs and tax authorities.
