EU is no minimum broadband speed for member states to enforce

The European Commission waive an obligation for member states to have a minimum internet speed. According to european commissioner Neelie Kroes from the Digital Agenda are hunting a obligation telecom operators as possible to high costs.

Originally, within the EU toyed with the idea to a minimum speed for broadband internet access within the European Union requirements. This would allow Europe to catch up with regards broadband rollout, especially in states where the speed of the commandments of connections left behind.

The European Commission, however, sees temporarily off of the plan. A mandatory minimum internet speed would be, especially in countries with a low average income, provide for high prices for internet access. Also, businesses in these states unnecessarily hard hit.

Despite the absence of a mandatory minimum speed, point to european commissioner neelie’s Kroes said that countries at the national level, however, minimum requirements on providers can impose, especially if the commandments of internet infrastructure is mature. In Finland, Malta and Spain apply all such obligations for isps.
