‘Companies in the Benelux to invest not be in backup”

The it budget in the Benelux is spent on backup and recovery software and hardware continues to lag behind the European average. More than a quarter of the companies would have the feeling are not sufficiently to invest.

Reports that EMC as a result of a by research firm Vanson Bourne conducted disaster recovery research, in which 1750 European companies have been interviewed. According to the figures, companies in the Benelux for about 8 percent of the available it budget on backup products that are needed for disaster recovery. This keeps the Benelux countries behind the European average of 9.1 percent, and the hekkensluiter if one looks at the average investment: 4.2 million euros, against a European average of 6.7 million euro.

From the EMC research shows that three-quarters of the European companies are not sure that they have their systems and data be able to recover if disaster to them. At least half of the respondents in the Benelux countries indicates that in 2010 data have been lost; the European average is 20 percent. The research further states that approximately 40 percent of the companies use a tape as backup medium. This backup process would be an annual average of 74,000 euro costs. A large majority would, however, look to other backup capability, because the restore of data on tapes is time consuming and it’s a little more environmentally friendly solution.
