British ministry of defense gets hundreds of pc’s

The British ministry of defence is in the last year and a half 188 laptops and 99 desktops lost by loss or theft. Also a large number of storage media and backup tapes disappeared, so has the ministry indicated.

It is unclear how the 188 laptops and 99 desktops exactly are gone; part of it is missing and a part is stolen, writes The Daily Mail. In one incident, which in Germany took place, became the ministry even 21 laptops lost.

It was not, however, for pc’s only; also, 72 hard drives and 73 usb sticks, and 150 backup tapes could not be located, as well as 194 cds and dvds. The British minister of defence states that the information on the devices was encrypted or that there are ‘other security measures’ were used.

The Daily Mail writes that the ministry eighteen mobile phones and ten BlackBerry’s lost; it is unknown whether that ten BlackBerry’s were included in the number of lost phones. Finally got in a total of 135 other devices lost, mainly usb tokens, but also radios, cameras, and 3g cards.

The British government in recent years repeatedly in the news because they hardware was lost. Between 2004 and 2008, became the ministry for 658 laptops lost.
