RIAA: Google refuses to piracy-app for Android to remove

Google refuses the popular app MP3 Music Downloader Pro from the Android Market to pick up, claims to protect the interests of the RIAA. With the app, users can copyrighted download music without paying for it.

MP3 Music Downloader Pro is one of the most popular apps in the Android Market. The RIAA is claiming in the name of the record labels that the app is removed, because it is used for music piracy. The app allows users to set mp3’s to search and download.

“We have in August a takedownverzoek for this app transmitted to Google because the app is unmistakable for illegal purposes. Google responded that the request put aside,” says a spokeswoman for the RIAA against PCMag. The organisation says ‘concerned’ about Google’s policy with regard to the detection and countering of piracy.

Previously took Google already infringing apps offline that similar functionality is offered as MP3 Music Downloader Pro. Now, however, there are again several similar apps available. Google has not yet responded to the claims.

The accusation comes at a time when Google themselves are Music service seems to introduce. Possible, this happens at an event that the group on november 16 in Los Angeles. From the invitation for that event would make are that the music will go. The negotiations with the record labels on the Music service would run optimally.
