Gartner: 60 million Android smartphones sold in three months

There are in the last quarter, 60.5 million Android smartphones sold, as has analistenbureau Gartner calculated. It was Googles mobile operating system with a share of 52.5% on the smartphone market.

Nokia’s Symbian operating system is the number two on the list, with an estimated number of sales of 19.5 million. Apple’s iOS is right behind with 17.3 million copies sold. Microsoft’s Windows Phone allows the global still low; only 1.7 million handsets sold were running Windows Phone has a market share of 1.5 percent. Even Samsungs own operating system Bada did better with 2.5 million copies sold.

According to Gartner, will make the list next quarter look quite different. Because at the end of October, the iPhone 4S came out, the share of iOS grow considerably. Symbian will continue to drop because of a lack of new devices. There was also a significant update of Windows Phone, which also means that sales can increase.

The smartphone market grew to a total number of copies of 115 million. The leading smartphonemaker in the last quarter was Samsung, that 24 million smartphones sold. The strain in the smartphone market according to Gartner in developing countries; according to Gartner, is in many western countries a saturation point is reached. The numbers for the third quarter of 2011, the months of July, August and september.
