Sony has in 2010 a biometric PlayStation 3 controllers, and a biometric handheld patented. The sensors should be in games as an extra input method, in which the game is adapted to the state of mind of the player.
The patent application was by Sony in december 2010 was submitted and recently discovered by Siliconera. The patent shows a DualShock controller, a PlayStation Move motion controller and a PlayStation Vita-like handheld that are equipped with biometric sensors.
The sensors measure the resistance of the skin, and the heartbeat and muscle contractions of the player. This information can in games be used. Sony gives various examples, such as weapons that are better or worse as the player stress, music that changes, or that the character starts to sweat as the gamer does. Or Sony also intends to make the patent was actually to a product to develop is not known.
The patent reminiscent of the Wii Vitality Sensor, which Nintendo at E3 in 2009 announced. The Wii accessory is, however, plagued by technical problems.
