Security expert Charlie Miller has found a way to the strict requirements of Apple’s mobile App Store to work. He got malicious code in the iOS application store, without Apple’s security software, the malware recognized.
Hackers can by iOS5-leak various malicious applications in the App Store places, notes Miller. He built a prototype that unsolicited software on a device could install it, and sent his copy in to Apple. Then came the app according to Miller without any problems along the security requirements of Apple.
Miller let in a video that he InstaStock, a program for viewing stock prices, more details of contacts can download. How he the malicious code secret could keep, is unknown. Miller gives as yet no details free so Apple the hole in the application store can be sealed. Apple accused him of deception and has his developer license revoked; Miller may not apps more for Apples mobile platform, writes the company in a letter.
The applications in the App Store are generally considered safe to book, because Apple is a strict policy. “Until now, you could assume that the App Store was safe. Now you have no idea what an app might do,” stresses Miller compared to Reuters.
