Motorola has launched two successors to its Xoom tablet, announced the Xoom 2 and the Xoom 2 Media Edition. The tablets have, respectively, a 10.1″ and an 8.2″screen, contain a 1.2 GHz soc and run on Android 3.2.
The Xoom 2 is the successor of the Xoom; a tablet that Motorola at the beginning of this year published and developed by Google as a test platform, is used in the development of Android Honeycomb. The display is still a 10.1″ large and finished with scratch resistant Gorilla Glass. According to Motorola is the screen this time, however, splash-proof. The Xoom 2 features an unspecified 1.2 GHz dualcore soc, 1GB ram, 16GB storage, a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 1.3-megapixelvariant on the front. The Xoom 2 is compatible with an optional stylus, which allows notes and drawings can be made. The tablet is 8.8 mm thick, and weighs 599 grams and on a full battery 10 hours long gebrowset.
The Media Edition of the Xoom 2 with a diagonal screen size of 8.2″, a somewhat smaller. The tablet has most of the same hardware as the big Xoom 2, but due to a smaller battery, but six hours during web browsing. According to Motorola, provides the screen of the Media Edition, excellent viewing angles, but it is not known what type of panel is used. The Media Edition is 8,99 mm thick and weighs 386 grams.
