The American LSI Corporation has announced the ssd-controller manufacturer SandForce for 370 million dollars to take over. Supervisors of the Us government should be the acquisition of still first goedgekeuren.
If the acquisition will get approval, expect the companies that deal in early 2012 around. LSI will be the technology of the SandForce use in the storageproducten that it already offers, primarily for the business market. LSI will pay 322 million dollars in cash and a further 48 million dollars for stock options currently held by SandForce employees.
SandForce will become part of LSI’s Flash Components division, with Michael Raam, the current ceo of SandForce, stays on as general manager of that department. What the acquisition means for SandForce’s position in the market for consumentenopslag, is not yet known. Currently use, among other OCZ, Adata, Corsair and Kingston ssd controllers from SandForce.
SandForce is the second major manufacturer of ssd controllers, which this year is being taken over. In march of this year, ssd maker OCZ, the company is Indilinx.
