IBM, the Eclipse foundation and two other companies have a workgroup created to be an open protocol for machine communication. IBM has its own m2m protocol to the working group given.
In addition to IBM and the organization behind the Eclipse development environment, the companies have Sierra Wireless and Eurotech is in the group connected. Although there are already several ways for computers to communicate, they are not compatible with each other and meet, they do not always, inform the founders of the working group. No one protocol is the standard and it differs per application which protocol is the most appropriate. The working group should have a protocol that all applications can be used.
IBM has the source code of its own machine-to-machine protocol, Message Queuing Telemetry Transport, to the working group given and this will be open source. That reports ReadWriteWeb. Mqtt for m2m should be what http is for the web, suggests IBM. The company claims that devices in the future, more and more communicate with each other, where the futuristic scenarios outlines of Facebook that with a refrigerator communicates.
