The Taiwanese lcd manufacturer Chimei Innolux has at the FPD International 2011 exhibition, a 46″lcd with a resolution of 3840 by 2160 pixels displayed. The 4k2k panel uses ips panel technology and clear with 120Hz.
The on the stock exchange shown 4k2k-lcd prototype has, according to Tech-On, a pixel size of 0,2655 mm and a pixel density of 96ppi. For the control of the pixels uses amorphous silicon tft. The maximum brightness of 450cd/m2 and the static contrast ratio of 1000:1 are, on average, while the screen is more than 72 percent of the ntsc color space to cover.
The prototype makes, according to Tech-On use of leds behind the panel for the backlight and the power consumption is 190W in the territory of plasma tv’s. There are still no concrete plans for the panel production, but mass production is in accordance with Chimei Innolux may ‘if the customer demands it’.
Chimei Innolux is not the only lcd manufacturer who shows interest in 4k2k. So Sharp is planning to next year for a 60″-4k2k-tv to introduce. It is not known yet whether also Samsung, LG Display, and Panasonic 4k2k technology work.
