Asus expects declining sales of laptops, tablets, and netbooks

Asus expected in the next quarter less notebooks, netbooks and tablets to sell, although the lucrative christmas period for the door. The reason for the conservative expectation is the flood in Thailand.

Asus sold in the last quarter, 4.3 million notebooks, of 800,000 tablets and 1.3 million Eee PC’s. In addition, sold the Taiwanese group 6.3 million motherboards. Thus did these product groups may be better than in the previous quarters of this year. Sold Asus 1.2 million more notebooks and 200,000 more tablets than in the second quarter. The majority of the tabletleveringen concerned Transformer, namely 70 percent, while 10 percent of the deliveries, the Eee Slider and Eee Slate concerned. In total was 15 percent of the tabletleveringen from the factories of Asus from Transformer Primes, although these only on 9 november will be released.

The company makes the numbers, not a comparison with a year ago. Asus expected in the fourth quarter in any case a decrease of the number of deliveries. So thinks the company’s 4.1 million notebooks, 0.6 million tablets and 1.2 million Eee pcs to continue to deliver. As a reason for the conservative prediction calls Asus the flooding in Thailand, which among other things has influence on the hard-disk inventories.

The quarterly was 4,68 billion Taiwanese dollar, the euro 112 million euros, which is 9.4 percent lower than last year and 30 per cent lower than in the previous quarter.
