Sony calls worldwide 1.6 million Bravia lcd-tv’s back – update

Sony is going worldwide in a total of 1.6 million tv’s recall due to oververhittingsgevaar. The problems would be a result of a defect in the backlight of the tv’s. It comes to models that in 2007 and 2008 are sold.

The recall of the Bravia tv’s according to Mail Online, the following models, all with a diagonal screen size of 40″ and a wcg-ccfl backlight: KDL-40D3400, KDL-40D3500, KDL-40D3550, KDL-40D3660, KDL-40V3000, KDL-40W3000, KDL-40X3000 and KDL-40X3500. These models are also in the Netherlands. Although the incidents only in Japan have occurred, calls Sony the conscious tv-models as a precaution, in Europe and the United States.

The Japanese ministry of trade, Sony has ordered the tvs to recall it. In total, about 1.6 million tvs, of which a small part, 189.000, in Japan. The tvs can overheat and possible catch fire, probably due to a faulty component that the ccfl backlight controls. Since 2008, there are eleven incidents with the tv’s reported, of which the last in september took place. The relevant Japanese called the fire brigade when he smoke and fire from the tv saw.
