KDE introduces gui for tablets

The KDE developers have a custom graphical environment, called Plasma Active One, designed for devices that are using a touch screen to be actuated. At present, it is a limited number of tablets supported.

KDE experimented in his translations, especially Linux users, popular, more, with the so-called Plasma interface. Now, the KDE development team this gui was adapted for tablet use, and under the name Plasma Active One released.

According to the developers, the Plasma Active One environment based on the markup language for Qt Quick. Previously built Plasma Widgets, which has now the stamp of ‘classic’ have been given, can also in Plasma Active One will be used. Via the so-called Peek&Launch bar, users can between applications to switch.

The KDE community encourages developers to create new widgets for tablets to develop. Currently, Plasma Active One will be available as an iso image with MeeGo or Balsam as the underlying operating system. The number of tablets that are currently supported, however, is limited. KDE calls the WeTab, the ExoPC and the Idea Pad.
