Google has a preview version of the new programming language Dart revealed. Dart is open source and focuses on web applications. According to Google it may be an easy-to-learn alternative to the widely applied javascript.

Last month there were already reports that Google is working on a new programming language, but details were not yet known. Meanwhile, Lars Bak, among other things, responsible for the V8 javascriptengine in Chrome, Dart officially presented.

Dart is, according to Google both a structured as a flexible programming language for building web applications. Also the language must be relatively easy to learn. Furthermore, it would Dart in a high degree scalable and not only, smoothly run on browsers of mobile phones, but also servers have to perform.

Bake further writes that the new scripting language uses optional types, a classification method that in some programming languages, is applied. Dart would make it possible to write code without types; these elements can be added later. Dart programs can run: in its own virtual machine or by compiling to javascript code. In future versions of Chrome integrates Google may have a Dart VM, but the compiler is already available.

Google has made the preview version of Dart on the website Dartlang.org online. At the home of the new programming language as open source available, programming and technical information.
