Dutch deprived of 32,000 GB of mobile data per day

Dutch verstookten in the first half year of 2011, an average of 32,000 GB of mobile data per day, according to a report of the OPTA. The data traffic is in two years, quadrupled. The data traffic grows faster than revenue.

A total of used Dutch in the first half of the year almost 5,88 million GB of mobile data. The number of sms sent was on 5.7 billion in that time. A total of belden Dutch 11,55 billion minutes via mobile networks. This is evident from the report of the OPTA.

Although the data traffic by a factor of four increase over the past two years, the turnover increased in the same time less hard. Providers earned in the first half of 2011, 404 million on data services, compared with 237 million in the first half of 2009. The turnover for sms increased in that period, much less quickly: with about 10 percent to 378 million euros.

The total revenue of the providers also increased in the first half of 2011. The providers earned jointly 2.54 billion euros, with mobile services. That was a year ago, 2,41 billion euros. The large round of reduced data limits and in some cases increased prices took place after the reference date of 30 June and the effects thereof are therefore not included in these figures are included.

The growth in data traffic is due to the rise of smartphones on the market for consumers. Especially BlackBerry’s, iPhones and Android devices in the Netherlands are sold in combination with subscriptions for mobile internet.
