BlackBerry-maker RIM is not hacked. That BlackBerry services for days offline, is due to the fact that, after the first defective RIM, the flow still deliver messages can not handle. The problem is now largely resolved.
The BlackBerry manufacturer has no date or time by which the failure will be resolved. According to RIM, not all of the customers affected, but varies the impact from user to user. That users outside Europe had, is because all of the servers of BlackBerry are linked to each other. “There are always rumours of a hack, but in this case not true: we are not a victim of a hack,” says cto David Yach.
The outage began Monday afternoon Dutch time. Tuesday morning were the BlackBerry services a short time online. The cause of the fault is according to RIM in a faulty core switch. The backup did not, so many users of BlackBerry services in Europe, Africa, and other parts of the world are offline.
The defective switch is in the British town of Slough. BlackBerry’s of companies that make use of BlackBerry Enterprise Server are not affected by the fault. RIM could not yet say whether customers are compensated for this failure. “We focus first on solving this error,” says Yach.
Update, Thursday, 08:45: Blackberry reports that users are slowly starting to come back online. Users GoT to confirm that.
