HTC sets OpenSense-sdk available

HTC has made available an sdk that allows developers of apps for HTC’s own Android skin, Sense. The with the sdk-made apps work only on the most powerful devices and on HTC’s tablet Flyer.

The sdk contains apis for three types of apps and widgets, it appears on the developers web site. A is for “common controls”, stuff that works on all supported devices. In addition, there may be apps to be made for the autostereoscopic screen of HTC’s 3d phone Evo 3D. Also can apps be made for the Scribe pen with HTC’s tablet Flyer is and, presumably, returns to the unannounced 10″tablet Puccini.

Apps with the sdk be made to work for all HTC’s; only tablets and Android smartphones with Sense 3.0 or higher are supported. It to work apps not on other recent devices like the Incredible S and Desire S. OpenSense works not with Windows Phone. On the site are in addition to the sdk source code to find devices and the tool to bootloaders of the locking mechanism to get rid of. That last feature is not yet active.

HTC made at the end of June announced that the sdk was coming. The OpenSense sdk came as a surprise; references to OpenSense appeared for the first time in 2009, when Android 2.1 firmware for the former top-class device Hero came out.
