Anti-Doping agencies are calling for Complete exclusion of Russia
14 national Anti-Doping agencies, including the NADA, call on the IOC to Olympic ban of the whole of the Russian team. NADA Board member Lars Mortsiefer refers to the fact that the state was proven to be doping.
14 national Anti-Doping agencies, including the German NADA, demanded in a letter to IOC President Thomas Bach, a lock of all Russian athletes for the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro. “Clean athletes around the world have been cheated and deserve Better,” writes the canadian Doug MacQuarrie, Chairman of the Institute of National Anti-Doping agencies (iNADO). The letter refers to the company on Monday published results
McLaren Reports from the world Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and was written before the decision of the sports court CAS.
“Tragic Heritage”
The CAS had on Thursday rejected appeals against Olympic exclusion of the Russian athletes. The IOC Executive Committee will discussed on Sunday about a possible lock of the entire Russian team for Rio. The McLaren Report was assigned to manipulations of positive doping samples Russian athletes at the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi, as well as in almost all other sports. “Until each of these samples have been carefully investigated and the Anti-Doping law against each of these athletes is applied, no one can assume that any Russian Athlete is clean”, – stated in the letter of iNado. “This is the destructive and tragic legacy of the doping system that the McLaren Report reveals.”
High hurdles in exceptional cases
The iNado argued, however, for derogations. “But the hurdles need to be high,” said NADA Board member Lars Mortsiefer the SID. It could only go in the direction that have taken the world athletics Association IAAF, said Mortsiefer, “that athletes have been over a long period of time under the influence of the Russian control system. Athletes who were even remotely in touch with it, may get no more chances.”
Start under a neutral flag
In addition, organisations from Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Spain, Japan, new Zealand, Egypt, Canada and the United States – the countries represent all continents, the launch of “clean” Russian athletes under a neutral flag. “This has something to do with attitude. Finally, we have to deal here with the state of doping, that is, at the latest since the publication of the McLaren-Reports is indisputable,” said Mortsiefer. He called on the IOC Executive Board to act quickly: “I know the procedures in the IOC Executive is not accurate. However, all the facts are on the table. And in fact, it should go now as quickly as possible.”
“Own solutions”
A disagreement with the WADA, which had already been demanded immediately after publication of the McLaren-Reports a to the exclusion of all Russians and not see Mortsiefer: “We want to work together with WADA, they strengthen. But we want to also give a clear indication as one of the national agencies that we have prescribed for us for many years, the Anti-Doping fight. And we also want to present their own solutions. All of us it is a clean Sport.”
