Comment: Theresa May – The Brexit will be your fate

The new British Prime Minister is welcomed in your party as a safe control woman in uncertain times. But your term is not a good sign, says Barbara Wesel.

“She’s a hell of a woman,” says a senior party colleague Theresa May described recently on the edge of a television appearance. Meanwhile, some political companions to speak of it in that way, that the new Prime Minister is a strong negotiating partner, whose determination could reach up to stubbornness. A woman with principles, not a the flush with a light Hand Deals. And a politician who wants to define their government’s objectives. But with only sixteen votes, a majority in Parliament, you need to make the right concessions. And above all there is the sword of the Brexit.

A poisoned chalice

She wanted to lead the country together, the new conservative head of government announced. And similar to Angela Merkel in May, released into the wild in the front yard of the social democratic Opposition: your ideas for a new industrial policy, for the Overcoming of class differences, better life chances for the under-privileged and ethnic minorities to sound almost revolutionary. But be careful: Even David Cameron was started with great intentions, and they melted away due to intra-party Resistance, a certain aimlessness and self-prescribed austerity.

Since decades, but no Prime Minister has taken over from its predecessor such a poisoned chalice. Theresa May has great political leaps no money: you can implement neither the necessary housing program, nor has the one billion for the rehabilitation of the sick health system. The means for the improvement of the disastrous inner-city schools, such as for the long-overdue modernisation of the transport infrastructure are missing. In fact, Theresa May has little political room for manoeuvre, and the “Brexiteers” you will move about erratically.

It’s all about the Brexit

The Prime Minister is very clear to Brexit. She has already set up a Ministry for the “exit”, and no one on the continent should have any illusions about your determination. In London, but the dream seller on step further and claim that the British could have the Best of all worlds: access to the internal market and control over immigration from the EU, all freedoms for the financial market, investments from all over the world and dozens of advantageous trade agreements – it will be a glorious future, a sort of Singapore on the English channel.

Theresa May is not a dreamer. You know, undoubtedly, that the Brexit is hard, even if no one has an exact idea of it. Even now, scientists complain of in Oxford, you will be cut off from EU research funds. If the funding from Brussels to expire for the British Farmer, die a Farmer, the government shake up. And if the City of London is losing the right for Euro transactions, to experience the British capital to a new crisis.

The Prime Minister is a woman

The new Prime Minister, and the experienced German Chancellor will now be seen as a counterplay inside: But Angela Merkel is not only about the exit conditions. At the end of the 27 countries of the EU, acting unanimously, decide what is in the divorce papers. Because the self-interest ruled, because the UK has announces the solidarity.

Theresa May is the second head of government of great Britain after Margaret Thatcher. And in difference to her, she will end the government of the Old-Boys networks in Westminster. In her Cabinet of women and men will be equally represented. Besides, May sometimes wears shoes with predator patterns, as well as colored dresses, pant suits and coats. All of this says nothing about your work. In 2016, there is for you and for us more important issues. Unfortunately, the largest of which is the Brexit.
