Beethoven signed his compositions at times with “BTHVN”. He did not know how modern such a shortcut in the times of Twitter & co. would be. Now the official Logo for the Beethoven anniversary year 2020.

Beethoven as a brand: The new Logo

Among the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven is undoubtedly the Superstar. His music is more often played than any other classical composer – with the 9. Symphony at the top of the classic Hits. For the anniversary year 2020, it is expected that you will hear his name and music even more frequently than before. The plans for the celebrations are already in full swing – especially in Bonn, where Beethoven 1770 saw the light of the world.

“Beethoven is very much alive, his music connects a lot of people, because it is played all over the world and loved,” said state Minister for Culture Monika Grütters on Tuesday (12.07.2016) in Berlin at the presentation of the new logo and the redesigned website for the Beethoven anniversary year. The presentation took place in the Berlin representation of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. NRW is organising this large-scale cultural project for the 250. Birthday of Beethoven, together with the Federal government and the city of Bonn.

Beethoven as a Germany-wide cultural event

“The Beethoven of the year 2020 will surely bring outstanding music events, crossing all cultural boundaries,” added Monika Grütters. “Beethoven’s music is the epitome of humanity. The last movement of Beethoven’s 9. Symphony has become the European anthem. The manuscript for ‘the Ninth’ belong to the world document heritage of Unesco.”

Malte Boecker, Director of the Bonn Beethoven house, NRW-Minister of culture, Christina Kampmann, and the Lord mayor of the city of Bonn, Ashok-Alexander Sridharan, presented in Berlin, together with the intendant of the Beethovenfest Nike Wagner, the detailed planning for the great Beethoven anniversary year. The anniversary should be planned in Bonn and the borders of North Rhine-Westphalia, as Germany-wide cultural event and take place.

Tourist destination: the Beethoven house in Bonn

The Logo gives the world the famous name of the composer by the absence of the vowels of a post-modern twist: BTHVN 2020. In this case, the Logo goes back to Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827). The composer signed occasionally in his compositions.
