Italy to take Guantanamo prisoners
After more than 14 years in prison in the U.S. prison camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the US Department of defense has transferred a prisoner to Italy. Still 78 inmates are housed in the controversial camp.

The Pentagon thanked the Italian government for the humanitarian gesture and willingness to make the sustained efforts of the USA to the closure of the prison camp to support. A spokesman for the Department of defense in Washington did not say whether the man will also come in Italy, in custody. The Italian government said only that you take the man out of humanitarian reasons. According to US military documents published by the Wikileaks revelations, was arrested the man in December 2001 by the Pakistani police and in US custody.
Resistance in Congress
Obama had promised the closure of Guantanamo when he took office in early 2009. Legal problems and fierce resistance in Congress and in the Public prevented but that he fulfilled the promise. The Parliament refused the funds for the settlement of the camp and blocked the transfer of Guantanamo prisoners to other US prisons. Especially the opposition Republicans cross.
Search of host countries
In February, Obama took a last attempt at closure of the camp, in the United States over the years, around 780 prisoners. Of the remaining, nearly 80 prisoners, many waiting for more than ten years on a charge or a trial. Obama hopes to be able to 28 of them until the end of his term of office in January of 2017 move – in which 21 of them are Yemenis, who does not want to send the US government in their war-shattered country back. The US authorities have already granted the permission to leave in another country. The rest of the prisoners wants to move Obama in other US prisons. Whether he succeeds, however, is questionable.
