BND has for years been spying among friends
In the BND affair to spying among friendly governments new Details have become known. A report by the parliamentary control panel gives information about the extent and nature of the objectives.
The investigation of the Bundestag Committee for monitoring the secret services (PMB) revealed that “a low two-digit number of participants” from EU and NATO countries, was tapped by the Federal intelligence service (BND). Including heads of state or heads of government and Ministers, their environment – that is, the headquarters, the staff, or the office, as well as military facilities. It is a matter of “several dozen” of such cases, told the German press Agency (dpa).

Especially diplomatic missions in the visor
Particularly intense, therefore, diplomatic missions of EU or Nato countries have been spying on the world. In this category, more than two-thirds of the said objectives. Add to this a medium-sized two-digit number of organizations and institutions, for example, in the areas of aerospace, defence, Transport, media and consulting.
The Body comes to the conclusion that many of the goals “are not consistent with the order and legally unacceptable”. On several occasions, attest to the secret service, a disproportionate and politically insensitive approach.
New BND-law
The Federal government had communicated to the Supervisory body in October 2015, that it has given in addition to the search criteria of the U.S. secret service, the NSA also has its own problematic BND-selectors. It is the search features, such as IP addresses of computers, e-Mail addresses or telephone numbers, which are used to worldwide streams of data to comb through. At the end of the 3300 objectives in the EU and Nato were assigned to States of approximately 15,000 telecommunications features.
Government spokesman Steffen Seibert pointed out that the government had been informed in December of 2015, through technical and organizational shortcomings in the BND. These are still valid today. First recommendations of the PMB would, however, already implemented, – said Seibert and referred to
the planned Reform of the secret services, which was discussed in last week for the first time in the Bundestag.
