50. Montreux Jazz Festival

The word Jazz Festival, falls one thinks of immediately
Montreux. The Festival is an Institution – and now for 50 years. Long ago, the boundaries between the music fused styles, and Pop and rock greats such as Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Johnny Cash, or even Herbert Grönemeyer were in Montreux on the stage as the jazz musician Les McCann, Ella Fitzgerald, or Count Basie. In this anniversary year, a Who’s Who of the Stars with Santana, Al Jarreau, Deep Purple and Simply Red hits again. Other Highlights include concerts of Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Quincy Jones 50 years of the Gala, ZZ Top, Slayer, Van Morrison, PJ Harvey, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Lana del Rey and Patti Smith arranged.

Unesco World Document Heritage

The 2013 late festival founder Claude Nobs has for decades, the concerts, the recording – initially a novelty in the music industry. His goal was to have the music on to future generations and to preserve them as cultural heritage. The approximately 5000 hours of comprehensive Audio and video files are recorded as a first audio-visual library of the Unesco world document heritage.

The interest continues unabated

The opposite of the canned music major degrees of freedom in a live performance in Montreux lead Stars and musical Border crossing and style-crossing jam sessions. This makes the audience still curious. The Montreux Jazz Festival also offers a 50. Year all of what has made it a legend. Jam Sessions, Workshops, concert, cinema, DJ parties, concerts, on trains and on excursion boats and, not least, more than 100 free concerts on the lakefront and in the Parks will guarantee that all music lovers – it will be well over 230,000 – come to the Festival at their own expense.
