Petersberg climate dialogue opens in Berlin

Climate change is driving millions of people from drought areas in the escape. Germany now offers poor countries a partnership to counteract. This also includes tailor-made advice from experts.

Germany wants to support developing countries to achieve the international climate goals of the Paris. The environment and the Ministry of development and want to start a partnership, poor countries should implement to help their national climate plans into concrete strategies.

Among the concrete tasks of the partnership, to organise rapid access to tailor-made advice to developing countries, for example, to build a renewable energy sector, sustainable urban development, and agriculture. In addition, the various donor programmes should be better matched to each other. The two ministries intend to Finance a Secretariat in Washington and Bonn. Non-governmental organizations should be involved in the partnership.

Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks said it, the promise of Paris. Seven months after the UN climate conference in the French capital, representatives from some 35 States have convened this Monday in Berlin on the implementation of the climate targets. In December, the world community in Paris had agreed to limit global warming to below two degrees.
