Epson announces transparent 3d head mounted display

Epson for the Japanese market a 3d-hmd under the name Moverio announced. The headset is powered by an Android-running controller and contains two transparent displays with a resolution of 960×540 pixels.

According to the Japanese manufacturer gives the Moverio BT100 the wearer the illusion that he was going to an 80″screen, watching at a distance of 5 metres. The images, both in 2d and 3d on the two transparent 0,52″displays are projected, whereby, in 3d-mode side-by-side method is used. Both displays have a resolution of 960×540 pixels.

The Moverio-videoheadset, that is 240 grams, and is powered by a 160 gram controller. Via a wire, the glasses and the controller, connected to each other. The stuurapparaatje runs on Android 2.2 and is capable of mpeg4, avc, and h.264 videos to play. Also the controller is equipped with wi-fi, a microsd card reader and a micro-usb connector.

Epson-the Moverio in an expected print run of ten thousand units at the end of november on the Japanese market, reports Impress. The glasses will be around 560 euros is going to cost you.
