“Kon-Tiki 2″Expedition failed

The men and women who originate from Norway, Peru and Russia, were 114 days continuously on two simple rafts on the Pacific. With your Expedition you had wanted to prove that South America were pre-Columbian inhabitants of the time agents will be able to reach Polynesia.

The two rafts were on 7. November, from the Peruvian port of Callao broken. 43 days later, they reached the Easter Islands. On 6. January made the adventurer of the Easter Islands on the way back to Peru. On the journey, the rafts were pushed, however, to the South, so that they drove, finally, 995 miles to the West of the southern Chilean port city of Puerto Montt, 1200 km South of the capital Santiago de Chile. On Wednesday, the crew finally set an emergency call.

The Chilean coast guard also sent a reconnaissance plane to determine the exact location of the rafts, and sent a trading ship to be there. The freighter took the crew on Board. The head of the Maritime safety Montejo reported that the crew had not had food for a further 30 days. The condition of the rafts has got worse so that it would be dangerous to remain on Board.
