I come from a Iiyama B2475HDS (60HZ TN panel) and of a bad experience with Dell U2713H (up to 3x increase returned). This Asus is at vnom ll areas a breath of fresh air. The colors are very good, and after calibration, to almost perfect values. No ghosting/overshoot/undershoot can be detected.
Pros
- 144Hz: noticeably smoother than 60Hz TN panels, regardless of Freesyc on/off
- IPS-very good viewing angles and nice colors
- No ghosting and/or over/undershoot is discernible, not even in fast shooters)
- My copy: very good uniformity (max 12% deviation of 120cd/m2 in the top center)
- After calibration, near-perfect value of 6502K, 120cd/m2, and high contrast ratio (average Delta E 0.69)
Cons
- My copy: joystick to navigate is not good to the left
- Foot is very deep (24cm)
- Connectors are awkwardly placed: you have to reach and search

IntroIn this review I treat purely my own experiences with this monitor. I’m not a specs listing, nor screenshots of the items of the menu structure. I have no oscilloscopes, nor I have uitegebreide measuring instruments to reponsetimes/inputlag to measure. This is very nice to find it on tftcentral.co.uk.
However, I have an i1DisplayPro used for luminance measurement and calibration with the i1Profiler software from X-Rite.ReferentiekaderVoordat I start writing, I want the frame of reference sketches, so that a better picture can be of this relatively short review.
I used to be very fanatic gamer, now slightly less than before but I game on average about 2.5 hours per day, mainly first person shooters. For the rest, I do a lot of fotoediting in Lightroom and Photoshop, so an IPS screen, for me, was a pr lwa. In the winter game I what’s more, while I am in the spring and summer/autumn a lot more to photograph, so I would have my photo and gamingactiviteiten respectively assess on a 60%-40% distribution.
My whole life I have only TN panels. So my current panel the iiyama B2475HDS. Because electrolytics full he was to be replaced, somewhere sin, because he is of 2011.

The 99% adobeRGB requirement, I have to let go because there is nothing reliable to get under 700 euros, so I focused on a 100% sRGB screen, because my video card (GTX970) anyway, not a 10-bit/8-bit+FRC supports and, by definition, are already not that 99% adobeRGB can halen.De aankoopNa the Dell incident, I have several reviews to read and eventually doubt between:
– Eizo Foris FS2735 (best of the best in both colors when gaming)
– BenQ GW2765HT (more colors than 100% sRGB at a very affordable price (400 euro)
– Asus MG279Q (144Hz, IPS, fast response times and good inputlagwaardes, 100% sRGB coverage and fairly reasonably priced t.o.v. of other models with these specs)
My requirements were:
– Resolution of 2560×1440 for a larger workspace in photo editing
– IPS
– Not a high inputlag, since I still pretty much game
Having G-sync or Freesync, I’ve not really heavy let you know the decision, because “anything is better than 60Hz+TN”, plus the fact that 144Hz + antiflicker’ll be a lot smoother and quieter experience would have.
The Eizo fell down because of the high price, then I could just as well be a ColorEdige CS270 buy, then I would have a much greater chance to be a good panel out of the lottery. But when I really professional the market to go with my photography, then I will buy that Eizo ColorEdge.
The BenQ I wanted to go for it, until I saw that the Asus has a much faster response time and no overshoot/undershoot had a very good inputlagwaardes), and even 144Hz.
Then came the mediamarkt vat action and then I was to: Asus MG279Q it is!

The joystick on the back to go through the OSD to scroll is very useful, but in my case, something is broken, so the joystick is not good to the left to navigate. Which is a pity.

After calibration, I had a black level of 0.099 cd/m2 and contrast of 1220:1 Contrast=80 and Brightness=29.
Very nice values!
Color reproduction is also excellent! Out of the box (racing mode, brightness 90, contrast 80) gave the i1DisplayPro that there is a saturated shade of green.
After the RGB to values of 98, 92, 100, contrast 80 and brightness 29, I found the following in almost perfect results (images are clickable):
You can see that the monitor has trouble with patch23, but that is probably because this color is largely outside the range of the monitor is located.

Check in this picture also the average colour deviation per measured area. That is also very comfortable t.o.v. the measured 6502K in the middle.
