Writer Umberto Eco died
This is reported by Italian media, citing his family. The Italian writer was 84 years old. He became famous with the novel “the Name of The Rose”.
Umberto Eco was in author, popular. The Italian made but also as a philosopher and linguist, is a name. Same with his first novel, “the Name of The Rose” from 1980, he became world-famous. Millions of readers he carried on a literary journey into the middle ages. He took her into the strange world of a Benedictine monastery in the Italian Apennines, where the monk William of Baskerville in the early 14. A century ago, a grisly series of murders populations.

Eco was on 5. January 1932 as the son of an accountant in the Northern Italian town of Alessandria, was born. In Turin, he studied philosophy and literary history. After graduating in 1954 he worked some years as a cultural Affairs editor at the state television RAI, he then became Editor of the Milan publishing house Bompiani. In 1971, he became Professor for semiotics (Zeichentheorie) at the University of Bologna appointed, where he, in 1975, the chair got. The Professor was already on the 50, as in his first novel wrote.
