“Philips/AOC and TCL will Chromecast competitor with Firefox OS, build in tv’s”

Original-equipment manufacturers Philips/AOC and TCL, the technology behind Matchstick, a Chromecast competitor with Firefox OS, build-in in their tvs. Therefore, users can images to their tv to stream without the need of a dongle or even an internet connection is required.

The plan is aimed primarily at playback of internet videos on the tv. The technology that Matchstick are used for this purpose is called Flint, a opensourceprotocol for streaming content to tvs. Philips/AOC and TCL will be for the American market the necessary hardware and software for Flint in their tv’s and monitors are going to build in.

With Flint to users of mobile devices including Android, iOS and Firefox OS content to their tv, can stream. Now is that the external hardware required in the form of the Matchstick. That is a dongle in the tv, and that Mozilla, the company behind the dongle, last year a successful Kickstarter campaign is set up. Flint and Matchstick work on the basis of Firefox OS.

With Flint is Matchstick, a competitor to Google Cast, the protocol of Google that the Chromecast uses. Difference is that Flint directly streaming and tv so no need for internet connection to get the videos to play. The first tv’s with Flint-support of Philips/AOC and TCL have this year.
