“IoSafe and Synology bring waterproof and fireproof nas”

Synology has together with the company ioSafe nas developed to be waterproof and a fire must be able to survive. The storage system is also designed to keep data safe if a fire breaks out in a commercial building or if there is water damage arises.

In the ioSafe 1515+ can set up to five disks can be placed. By means of an extra strong and fire resistant housing, the disks according to the ASTM E119 specification, a temperature of 843°C to survive. Also is the nas according to ioSafe impervious to water damage, thanks to sealed drive bays. According to the specifications, stored data is still intact after the nas for three days at a depth of 3.1 meters under water.

The ioSafe 1515+ is powered by a quadcore Intel Atom cpu at 2.4 GHz is clocked. By default, the nas, 2GB of ram, but this can be increased to 6GB. In the five drive bays can drives up to 6TB are placed, good for a gross storage capacity of 30TB. IoSafe has the nas comes with four usb 3.0 ports and two esata connectors. For the laying of network connections there are four gigabit ethernetaansluitingen.

The 1515+-nas would read and write speeds can achieve, respectively, 450 and 396MB/s. If encryption is enabled, drop the speeds to respectively 448 and 191MB/s.

Synology provides its DSM software for the ioSafe built nas. For now, the ioSafe 1515+ is only available in the US. The suggested retail price is 1999 dollars, or 1680 euro.
