“Intel shows password manager face recognition”

The beveiligingstak of Intel, formerly the stand-alone McAfee, comes with a password manager that users with facial recognition to access their passwords. Users can also with the help of face recognition on Windows login.

The True Key-the service of Intel let the user choose how many factors they want to use to log in. Similarly, a fingerprint, a trusted device or a password are used to gain access to passwords. The more factors adjust, how safer, emphasizes Intel. It is unclear as to how trusted devices are recognized, but probably done via bluetooth.

True Key is supported for Windows, OS X, Android and iOS. Also, there are extensions for Chrome and Internet Explorer; Firefox and Safari are missing in the list. Use of the app is free to fifteen stored passwords; then it must be exclusive of vat 20 dollars per year, the equivalent of some 17 euro, or $ 2 per month will be consideration for the app. From the end of this month beta-testing the app is already run; halfway through this year, everyone gets access.

Passwords are locally encrypted and servers of Intel sent. That would mean that the authorities cannot get access to the stored data. The introduction of True Key follows the acquisition by Intel of PasswordBox, a password manager, at the beginning of december.
