“Asus announces new Zenfones with 4GB ram and optical zoom”

Asus has at CES in Las Vegas two new Zenfones announced. The two new Zenfones are equipped with Intel soc’s and a whopping 4GB ram. The Zenfone Zoom features a 13 megapixel camera with optical zoom.

The Zenfone 2 is the successor to the first generation Zenfones, and features a brushed metal housing. The screen has a diagonal of 5.5″ with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The ips panel should be according to the manufacturer, a maximum brightness of 400cd/m2. An Intel-soc takes the calculations of the two new Zenfones. There will be the choice between an Atom Z3560 up to 1,83 GHz tap, and a Atom Z3580 at up to 2.33 GHz. The working memory amounts to 4GB in dual channel setup, and Asus would be the first manufacturer that is so much ram into a smartphone mount. The storage memory is 16, 32 or 64GB and it is possible to have that capacity by using sd cards to expand.

The hardware on the Zenfone 2 is powered by a battery with a capacity of 3000mAh. Thanks to the snellaad-functionality of the charger that battery in 39 minutes from zero to sixty percent can be charged. The camera on the Zenfone 2 has at the front a resolution of 5 megapixels, while the sensor is on the back 13 megapixel counts.

Also the Zenfone Zoom has a 13-megapixel camera, but it can use optical zoom up to 3x zoom. The openingsverhouding varies, therefore, from f/2.7 to f/4.8, and the lens is equipped with optical image stabilization. The Zoom offers up to 128GB of storage, though it is not clear in what other capacities, the phone will deliver. The screen and the soc of the Zenfone Zoom are the same as the Zenfone 2.

Both Zenfones are equipped with Android 5.0, where Asus own ZenUI shell running on it. The Zenfone 2 will be in march for a starting price of 199 U.s. dollars, while for the 399 dollar Zenfone Zoom until the second quarter of 2015 to wait. Or the Zenfone to the Benelux, and at what price, is not yet known.
