An employee of German chancellor Angela Merkel has been hit by advanced malware. The so-called Regin-virus would on a personal usb stick have been, that the employee took with him to the work, because there is a business file.
Researchers at Symantec discovered a different variant of the spionagemalware. The American NSA and the British GCHQ are associated with the creation of the malware. Among more computers in Belgium would be affected. The researchers have the malware named Regin. Regin is according to Symantec’s modular structure and the activities of the malware, as per victim to be adjusted. This enables attackers stealing passwords, capture screenshots, mouse over and network traffic interception.
