TV-Moderator Roger Willemsen is dead

As a sensitive Interviewer, and the wise fine spirit was Roger Willemsen on German TV. With all the success he has always remained also an eloquent foreign bodies in the TV landscape.

The bestselling author and former TV presenter Roger Willemsen is dead. The confirmed his office in Hamburg and the publishing house S. Fischer in Frankfurt. Willemsen died on Sunday at the age of 60 years at the consequences of a cancer in his house in Wentorf bei Hamburg. He was one of the most famous German Intellectuals.

SPD-Chef Sigmar Gabriel wrote in the short message service Twitter, Germany lose “a citizen of the world, in the best sense, and an important voice in our cultural life”. The Left politician Gregor Gysi praised Willemsen as one of the outstanding journalists and publicists in Germany.

A year in the stands

Popular was born in Bonn, with the ZDF-Talksendung “Willemsens Woche”. He has been successful also as a book author, among other things, with essayistic travel books and most recently a long-term observation of the German Bundestag. “The High house” (2014) was a best-seller. Instead he had a year of the happenings in the Parliament in the stands as the audience is pursuing.

The cancer was in Willemsen in August last year – a few days after his 60. Birthday – have been found. He then said all public events.
