The ailing publisher Jowood will be acquired by Nordic Games. The acquisition will JoWood and The Adventure Company to continue as labels of Nordic. It is not known how much money the acquisition is involved.
The Swedish publisher Nordic Games is the Austrian competitor Jowood acquired for an undisclosed amount. The ailing publisher was in January, a court in Vienna deferral of payment assigned, but had in april to announce that the no new investors had been found to have debts to clean up.
Lars Wingefors, ceo of Nordic Games, says that with the acquisition of a fresh start. Nordic gives mainly Wii titles, as We Dance, We Sing, and a number of racing games. The names JoWood and The Adventure Company will be used as the labels of Nordic rest of his life. Nordic intends to use the old titles of JoWood again, and new games to make on the basis of JoWoods franchises.
JoWood was known as a publisher of adventure games as the Gothic and SpellForce, and also brought the shooter game Painkiller on the market. The company purchased in 2007, the Canadian publisher Dreamcatcher Interactive, which has since acted as the North American branch of the company. The Adventure Company was a label of Dreamcatcher.
