Huawei wants to market to conquer with their own Android smartphones

Hardwaremaker Huawei will in the coming years, the emphasis on the placing on the market of own phones. The Chinese manufacturer wants to conquer the market with its own Android smartphones and is aiming for a top5 position in that area.

Huawei is one of the largest manufacturers in the world in the field of mobile network and telecom equipment and competes in this area with, among others, Ericsson. Though the company is no small player, it is the reputation of the manufacturer is not large. According to Steven Grey, vice-president of Huawei in the U.S., this is mainly because the manufacturer technology the past few years especially has brought on the market under the flag of providers. However, this will change, says Grey.

Huawei has already the necessary experience with the production of such low-end devices, and says the next few years to focus on the placing on the market of such devices under its own name; a tactic that previously successfully extracted for HTC.

“The current generation of feature phones will disappear,” said Grey during a presentation in the American r&d office in Santa Clara where Tweakers.net was present. “The role of these feature phones will be taken over by lower-end smartphones.”

According to Grey will Huawei not only focus on the bottom of the call market, but the whole spectrum to try to cover. “We will also high-end smartphones under our own name on the market, where we on both price and performance to compete.”

Grey could have no further details on the specifications on prices for parts, but by the experience the company has with the lte technology can be assumed that these smartphones will in any case support for this wireless technology will offer.
