Prototype MacBook Pro with 3g for sale on eBay

On eBay is a MacBook Pro from 2007 has surfaced that about a 3g modem, a 3g antenna and a sim card slot. The prototype works and the 3g hardware the OS recognized it, but would have no 3g connection can achieve.

Until now, deprived of all the MacBooks as a 3g option, but the prototype that is on eBay appeared makes it clear that Apple is seriously thinking about a MacBook with a 3g connection. The laptop was via Craigslist purchased and turned out to be a prototype. The current owner took the laptop apart and noticed among other things a red pcb, but also the presence of a sim slot and a retractable antenna left little to the imagination.

The 15″ MacBook Pro from 2007 that has a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo cpu, 2GB of ddr2 memory, a 320GB hdd and a Nvidia Geforce 8600M. On the laptop was Snow Leopard installed and operated according to the owner properly. The 3g hardware is recognized, but a working 3g-connection could not be established. That probably has to do with the antenna, which is previously for bluetooth than for 3g would be suitable.

There seems to be serious interest for the prototype. At the time of publication the highest bid is $ 10,000.
