An employee of Battlefield ontwikkelstudio DICE has confirmed that EA’s Origin platform required to buy Battlefield 3 on the pc to play. Also, gamers with a physical version of the game can not play without Origin to install.
DICE employee Daniel Matros confirmed the need to have Origin to have via Twitter. Asked about the rumor that Origin also would be required for players who have the dvd with the game, answered Matros that those rumors are true. This seems to be confirmed that pc gamers that Battlefield 3 want to play, first EA Origin need to install.
The confirmation follows a week after EA announced that Battlefield 3 final not to download service Steam. EA devotes to the rules and limitations that Steam imposes to the parties that their games want to offer on the platform. Steam does not allow publishers and developers to dlc and patches outside of Steam to distribute. For that reason, disappeared under more Dragon Age II is already out of Steams digital shelves.
EA stressed in the last week issued a declaration that the games are at each online store. The mandatory EA Origin with the use of Battlefield 3, however, seems to betray that the publisher of the popular shooter wants to use as a means to the number of Origin-users to increase, eventually the competition with Steam.
