“Samsung starts mass production of ddr4 memory for smartphones with 4GB of ram”

Samsung has begun mass production of ddr4 memory on 20nm for use in smartphones and tablets. Thanks to the memory, it is possible to have packages with 4GB ram in smartphones to stop.

Samsung the packages with 4GB of ddr4 memory to deliver from the beginning of 2015, the packages with 3GB were already longer in production. The low power ddr4 memory consists of an 8Gb chip in a single. With four of these chips in a package creates a 4GB lpddr4 module. Samsung also makes a variant with two chips and, therefore, a memory size of 2GB; this is more economical than the use of 4Gb chips, claims the manufacturer.

Although Samsung is the first claims to be, this is not the first generation of ddr4-memory for smartphones from the manufacturer. The South Korean manufacturer announced at the end of last year the first generation. Where the manufacturer of the previous generation in a process somewhere between 20nm and 30nm made, is that in the second generation of 20nm. That memory seems not yet to have been applied in products. Samsung claims that the mobile ddr4 memory (up to 50 percent faster, and on 1.1 V approximately 40 percent less energy than the ddr3 variants.

Probably the ddr4 memory in next-generation high-end smartphones and tablets. Thanks to the availability of mobile processors with 64bit support is in smartphones for the first time possible to have 4GB or more memory addressing. High-end smartphones are now mostly a memory of 2GB or 3GB.
