Layar is coming soon with a Vision, an expansion of its existing application for augmented reality. With Vision can Layar objects recognize, which, for example, an article in a newspaper or a magazine online can be shared.
Layar Vision makes it possible for developers to use the software after the recognition of an object is a certain action to perform, reports the Amsterdam based company on the own blog. Thus, users can, for example, the sticker on a door of a coffee shop to scan and then a rating. The objects need not have a tag to contain; the software recognizes them because they are matched with a database in the app itself.
Layar Vision is an extension of the application and will soon be released in a test version for Android, then probably a release on all platforms Layar are supported. Apps Layar, there are more for iPhone, Android, and Symbian, while Windows Phone 7 version is in the making. Also, Vision in Layar Player for iPhone and Android, that enable the functionality by developers in other apps can be embedded.
The Amsterdam based company introduced two years ago, one of the first augmented reality apps, on the then still small smartphone platform Android. Layar works with layers, layers in which information objects can be added, such as a selling price of houses for sale in the neighborhood. The Dutch start-up is growing rapidly and now has almost sixty people in the service.
