Ziggo sees growth in digital tv customers decline

In the second quarter of 2011, Ziggo 56.000 new customers for its digital tv service welcomed. That is considerably less than the 111.000 digital-tv-viewers in the first quarter of this year by the company are credited.

With the 56.000 new customers is the number of Ziggo viewers with a digital tv subscription increased to 1,97 million. A year ago there were still 1,68 million. The number of customers that only analog watches, took over last year to 25.4 per cent to 1.08 million. Ziggo did the fall not to compensate: the total number of tv customers has increased in one year by 2.3 percent. Ziggo now has 3.05 million customers for its tv services.

The number of customers that additional digital tv services from Ziggo decreases, increased by more than ten percent to 896.000. Also, the number of internet and telephony customers increased in the past year. With the tripleplay offer posted Ziggo also a significant growth: the kabelaar has now 1,18 million subscribers for such bundles, and that is 17.9 percent more than a year back.

Ziggo delivered in the second quarter of 70,000 set-top boxes and CI+modules. That is a slight increase compared to last year, when 67.000 of such devices were delivered. Now have 723.000 abonees now a Docsis Eurodocsis 3.0 modem. In the past half year exchanged 109.000 customers their Eurodocsis 2.0 version to a 3.0 version. Ziggo expects that this year a further 250,000 customers switched to the new modem. In 2013, all customers of the provider over a Eurodocsis 3.0 modem. All in all, the revenue from Ziggo 363,7 million euros, an increase of 7.6 percent in comparison with last year.
