US-Rockstar Paul Kantner is dead

Paul Kantner, co-founder of the Californian Band “Jefferson Airplane” is at the age of 74 years died. The US Recording Academy paid tribute to the guitarist as an icon of Rock.

As the newspaper “San Francisco Chronicle” reported, succumbed to Paul Kantner after a heart attack multiple organ failure.

By Kantner in 1965 co-founded the Band “Jefferson Airplane” stands for the Era of the so-called Psychedelic Rock. Songs like “White Rabbit” and “Somebody to Love” became the anthems of the Hippie movement on the U.S. West coast, culminating in the “Summer of Love” in San Francisco in 1967 took place. The Band also appeared at the legendary Woodstock Festival in 1969.

In the 1970s, named the Band “Jefferson Starship” and later in “Starship”. The occupation changed, Kantner was until the mid-1980s and then again since the beginning of the 90s.

At the Grammy awards ceremony on 15. February in Los Angeles the Band for their life’s work to be honored. The Recording Academy of the United States, the Grammy awards, called Kantner a “giants” of Rock and Folk music and an important protagonist of the rock scene of the 1960s.
