BlackBerry-maker RIM has a short time, an Android emulator for PlayBook tablet online. The Android Player is according to the manufacturer, an old version. A public version will appear later this summer, says the BlackBerry-maker.
The player is gemirrord on various uploadsites and has a size of 143MB, reports N4BB. The Android emulator can as .bar file by sideloading on PlayBook. However, this requires the necessary software; need a Java runtime, the BlackBerry pc software and an app in order to sideload on PlayBook.
The software runs too fast and is buggy. RIM recommends that users according to Slashgear for the emulator to install. A public test version of the software comes out later this summer. RIM announced a half-year ago that Android apps on his tablet could be run through a Java virtual machine. That should take the tablet more attractive.
The BlackBerry tablet came out last month in the Netherlands. Tweakers.net also published an extensive review of RIM’s first tablet. The tablet runs on a Texas Instruments Omap4-soc and has a 7″screen with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. The PlayBook runs on BlackBerry Tablet OS, a variant of QNX, that from 2012 on BlackBerry smartphones will run.
