Microsoft is one of the companies that contribute a lot to version 3 of the Linux kernel. In the past, Microsoft had a lot of criticism on Linux, because the patent would violate. Red Hat and Intel are the companies with the most changes.
Software giant Microsoft was responsible for 361 changes to Linux 3.0 kernel and thus stands on the seventh place of companies that contributed, reports H-Online. Red Hat and Intel were responsible for most of the changes, with respectively 1000 and 839 changes. Independent developers were responsible for 1085 changes.
The changes Microsoft were also relatively small; Microsoft changed around 12,000 lines of code, which is 1.3 percent of the total number of modified rules. Intel changed 163.000 rules, or 18.1%. One Microsoft developer, was of all the contributors responsible for most of the changes are: no less than 343 in total. This was also, however, to make changes in the staging code, which is not yet stable enough to be included in the final kernel. The Microsoft code included support for Hyper-V-virtualization in the Linux kernel.
