Lexus demonstrates the maglev-hoverboard

Lexus has the maglev-hoverboard where the company longer to works, demonstrated on a specially designed skatepark in Barcelona. The hoverboard is equipped with superconducting materials by means of liquid nitrogen at -197 degrees Celsius to be cooled.

The demonstration of the hoverboard in the skate park was at the end of June, already announced by the release of a teaser image of the luxury brand Lexus, Toyota. The board works through the use of the property that certain superconducting materials possess, in combination with magnets. The superconducting materials are in the game and be in the board cooled. After twenty minutes, the material is too warm and should the board be filled with “fresh” liquid nitrogen. The track where the top floats, is composed of electromagnets.

An employee of the Verge tried the board out and had to conclude that Lexus is little itself has thought up; the company has hired a advertising agency in order to produce. The advertising agency contacted a group of scientists in the German Hamburg who already were busy with the maglev technology and asked the scientists to work out how to create a hoverboard. The combination resulted in the following commercial.

The technology is far from new. Generating a magnetic field by a superconductor below a certain temperature, is a phenomenon that is already in 1930 was described by the German physicist Walther Meissner. In the Netherlands, toured stichting Rino of the University of Leiden years by the country with the Human Levitator to people the special feeling to really give it to levitate and even turned to be able to be.
